School season was my happiest, unlike most people that dreaded being around the four corners of school but I was different not because of the academic aspect of it I didn't give a shit about that. It was because it was somewhere I could do my thing the way I wanted, other students treated me like I was like a king and no one dared to treat me like I was regular, I wasn't and they understood that well enough. It was also the place where I acted however I liked without having my father's eyes on me so it was more like an escape to me.
As I drove into the school compound I could feel the eyes on me, I stepped out and walked majestically through the number of people who stood to stare.
“Hello handsome,” someone said behind me and when I turned to look it was Caleb with a grin
“Shut your dumb ass up” I laughed
“Never thought we would get to see you again,” Eliott said
“Well lucky you” I laughed
I was away during the holidays instead of having a fun one with my friends, drinking, and partying. I spent the holiday trapped. My father enrolled me in a fuck ass business school to spend the holiday. It was always like that during any holiday he was home, the last one he made me intern in his company and I have never hated my life more.
“Look it is your girlfriend,” Eliott said
“Call her my girlfriend one more time and I will rip your tongue out” I joked
“But she was” he laughed
“Exactly was,” I said emphasizing ‘was’
Amelia and I had a relationship at one point and I can’t explain what it was. We have known each other almost all our lives because we grew up together, went to school together, and still go to school together. She thought it would be a good idea for us to be in a relationship like a power couple sort of thing and I went with it and it ended badly as everyone foresaw.
“Should I say ex-girlfriend then?” Elliot asked having fun with it
Just as I was about to shut him up, I looked up to see Amelia throwing something at the fat girl’s face
“How is this whale still here” I said in disgust
“She is quite relentless I would give her that,” Caleb said
For a year since she came into the school, she has gone through a lot from Amelia and me. I expected her to break like everyone else that gets chronically bullied and withdraws but she refused to do that, and that pissed me off badly. I just hated seeing her around me.
“Oh my God, oh my God look” Adrianna one of Amelia's friends swooned as we got closer and Nova slipped away once they got distracted
“Hello ladies” I winked at them
“Hello Eliott, hello Caleb” Amelia greeted ignoring me
“Let’s go girl” Amelia huffed before turning around
“What's up with you two?” Caleb asked
“Another lover quarrel?” Eliott asked
“There is no quarrel and shut your mouth about the lover bullshit it has been a year” I rolled my eyes at him not like he would listen
“You guys were fine from what I remember what happened now?” Caleb asked
“Let me guess just Amelia being Amelia?” Elliott asked
“Exactly” I laughed
“We have basketball practice, we will be late” Caleb shook his head
She was on my neck to spend the holiday with her family because she didn’t want to be trapped with her parents alone on their private island which I didn’t want to go then she went off on me calling me all different names. I guess she is still mad not like I care anyway.

We went to practice and after it was over, I was sitting on the bench scrolling through my phone when the coach walked up to me
“Lennox” he called
“Yes?” I asked wondering what he was about to say
“Your grades” he simply said and I already knew where he was going with it
“I would work on it,” I told him and I am sure he was tired of hearing that from me
“Are you sure you want to go college?” I asked
I didn't but my father did, all I wanted was to play basketball and go pro one day. I didn't give a shit about grades or whatnot
“You know your father was against you joining the team but I was the one that convinced him telling him that joining a sports team is an added advantage to get into college without perfect grades. Do you want to get kicked off the team?” he asked and my nose flared up in anger, I hated that he brought up a discussion about my father in the presence of the other team members.
“I would work on it okay,” I said through my teeth
“ I have heard that enough times, you need an extracurricular,” he said
“I don't” I retorted
“I am not asking for your opinion Lennox, join the drama club I am sure they need extra hands for upcoming theatre week,” he said
“I am not joining no damn drama club” I argued
“Either you join them or you leave the team it is that simple” he said before walking away
“Fuck” I hissed under my breath
“Looks like Dylan would become a theatre kid,” someone behind said and they all laughed
“Shut up” I heard Caleb tell them
The athletic team and art club are like a parallel universe that shouldn't cross, the athletic team always made fun of the guys in there calling them dorks and all sorts of names and I was to go into that circle. Only if I wanted to give up basketball would I not do as the coach has said which was impossible because that was my whole life.
“More girls for me” I turned to them masking my emotions with a smile
“So you are going to become one of the dorks?” Stanley asked, he was a senior and the the team captain
“Isn’t your girl in drama club?” I asked and his smile turned to a frown
“Let’s see how much she would want you after I join them,” I said with a smirk
“You can't get my girlfriend,” he said
“You want to bet on that?” I laughed
“He would get your girl on her knees just in a snap” Caleb chimed in
“Don't tell me you are scared Stan” Eliott said laughing
That was how we always had each other's backs, they couldn't mess with us even if they wanted to try
“I am not scared of shit” Stanley hissed
“Then what is stopping you let’s bet on it,” I said
“You are that confident aren't you?” Stanley asked
“I can get any girl I want including your mom,” I said with a smirk, I could see the anger brewing in his eyes he should have known better than to try to make fun of me
“How about with a girl that doesn't want you?” he asked with a smug smile
“Trust me no one like that exists,” I said pretty confident about that
“Oh there is,” he said with a wide smile that made me second-guess what I had said
“Who?” I asked
“Let’s bet on it, you get to kiss whoever name I mention on video then we would take your word for it,” he said and others cheered in agreement
“You are on” I scoffed
“Okay” he let out a loud laugh
“Who is it?” I asked curiosity getting the best of me
“Someone you know very well, she hates you because you have made her life hell,” he said with a smirk
“What are you talking about? Who the he-”
“Hell no there is no way I am doing shit with that disgusting pig” I cut myself off when realization dawned on me
“Nova Foster is the one” he smiled with all his teeth, I already figured out that was what he was what meant and there was no way I would do that to anyone but that whale
“Fuck no” I hissed
“Are you scared Lennox?” he said with a victorious grin
“I am not scared of shit but I am not locking lips with that thing” I hissed
“You said you can get any girl that is one for you. If you can't do it just say so and we will all forget about it” he laughed and others did to
He knew exactly what he was doing. He knew that on the basketball court, the team listened to me and respected me. And now, he was trying to take that away from me.
If I didn’t go along with the bet, I’d lose the respect of my teammates. They wouldn’t see me the same way anymore. Being stuck in the drama club wouldn’t help either, it would only make things worse. I had to go for it to keep my stance.
“You know what fuck you and you are fucking on” I hissed and everyone cheered loudly
“Are you sure?” I heard Eliott whisper beside me
“Looks like I have to kiss a frog” I shuddered at the mere thought of it
